Thanks to a generous gift from the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) Office of STEM Outreach, the Space Foundation is offering this extraordinary opportunity to participate in an Audience With an Astronaut Discovery Center field trip to select schools.

Students will enjoy this conversation with former NASA astronaut Lt. Col Duane "Digger"Carey and learn more about his story how he became motivated to overcome several societal and economical barriers to his success. He'll discuss his life as a fighter pilot and what let him to become a NASA astronaut.

Homeschool Days activities include: 

  • Jeff Gonyea, creator of Zack and Zoey Adventures, presents his magazine "S.T.E.M. to Bloom" -10:30 a.m. 
  • Science On a Sphere® presentation: Kinesthetic Astronomy
  • STEAM-based (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) activities and crafts.
  • Make your own telescope and constellations in our AGI Classroom.
  • Explore our universe by learning how light travels in our Educational Activity Center. .

An evening of looking to the stars and discovering the wonders of the universe. This event creates a fun learning environment for the whole family and inspires the next generation of astronomy enthusiasts! All outdoor activities are free to the public. 

Activities include: 

  • Constellation Tubes, Yarn Constellations and more!
  • Night Sky Viewing: Crescent moon, Venus setting, Orion & Andromeda (weather permitting)
  • Science On a Sphere® presentations

No fee for outdoor telescope viewing. Discovery Center indoor activities fee: half price admission.

Science Riot returns to the Space Foundation Discovery Center. Join us for a night of hilarity as we hear newly-minted scientists-turned-comedians as they attempt standup and wax hilarious about the unique nuances of their work. 

Show is for ages 18+, must be age 21 with valid I.D. to consume alcoholic beverages.
Cash bar only

Time: Doors open at 6:00 p.m.
          Museum access from 6:00 p.m. to Science Riot showtime 
          8:00 p.m. show begins, 10:00 p.m. event ends
