Thanks to the generosity of Dr. Rochelle Abrams, the Space Foundation will be hosting our annual Abrams Space Across the Curriculum Teacher Professional Development workshop. This year's workshop, Mission to Mars, will be held at the Space Foundation Discovery Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado from July 29th to August 1st.
We are entering a new era in space exploration, an era in which we will be headed "Back to the Moon, and on to Mars", with an expected industry boom from a current $350 billion to an anticipated $1.1 TRILLION by the 2040's! This kind of staggering growth will bring with it a slew of new jobs...jobs that have yet to be imagined! Our Mission to Mars workshop will equip you to best train the NEXT generation of scientists, engineers, and space explorers, sitting right in your classroom, for positions within the aerospace community! Through an immersive educational experience, connecting necessary 21st Century skills to real-world environments, participants will embark on a complete Mars mission. This will encompass all the challenges that come with sending astronauts to our neighboring planet, and returning them safely to Earth, including some 'on-location' training right here in the Pikes Peak Region!!
As we close the week, we'll focus on grant-writing, giving you the tools and resources you need to bring our Mission to Mars to your own communities, with your grant impact statement written and ready to go before you leave! In addition, we'll be featuring different presentation styles throughout our time together, including Pear Deck, Prezi, Google Slides, Adobe Spark, Flip Grid, and Canva, helping you to reimagine your teaching as you head back to school this fall!
Scholarships are available for teachers in both formal AND informal education, including funds to cover travel, hotel, and classroom supplies.
