Event Details:

Join us at the Space Foundation Discovery Center for an evening of looking to the stars and discovering the wonders of the universe. This event creates a fun learning environment for the whole family and inspires the next generation of astronomy enthusiasts!

Orion the Hunter is a winter constellation in the northern hemisphere which is a veritable astronomy class all by itself – from red giant Betelgeuse, to blue supergiant Rigel, to his readily identifiable three-star belt, to the Orion Nebula in his belt which is the birthplace of stars!
Come learn about this iconic constellation and it’s many parts which you’ll get to enjoy through the rest of the winter months.

Night Sky Viewing Outside: (weather permitting)

  • See Orion the Hunter, Betelgeuse, Rigel, and the Orion Nebula
  • Enjoy the Mobile Earth & Space Observatory (MESO)*
  • Telescope support provided by members of Colorado Springs Astronomical Society

  • El Pomar Space Gallery scavenger hunt
