Keith Barger implements several of the Space Foundation's space-related educational programs, including those that are new, as well as renowned. He teaches the Discover the Universe field trips for students, as well as the new Space in the Community program. In addition, he assists with the established Tesla’s Toolbox program, and is the lead on the Discovery Center’s new Family Star Party events, making use of his extensive background in astronomy. He develops and implements curriculum and education programs that support science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics (STEAM).
Prior to working at the Space Foundation, Barger spent four years teaching biology, earth science, environmental science and astronomy at Manitou Springs High School. Barger initiated the astronomy club at MSHS, and also served as assistant coach for the varsity girls’ basketball team. Barger earned his bachelor’s degree at Valdosta State University, and his master’s in teaching from Georgia College and State University.
