Zach Mangold
I started volunteering at the Space Foundation because I wanted to use my time to make a difference and an impact in the world of science education. It's a welcoming environment and I've loved my time there, if you are on the fence about it take a leap and come visit us to see if you would want to volunteer!

I love being a volunteer for the Space Foundation because there’s such a wide variety of things to do and learn. Every event and project offers a new opportunity to explore something fascinating about space. What makes it even more rewarding is the community—everyone is genuinely excited about space and always ready to geek out over the most interesting discoveries and ideas.

Ambassador Opportunities
Are you good with people and interested in space/science? As a docent, you'll act as a guide for the Discovery Center Museum gallery. You'll introduce artifacts and exhibits to visitors, answer questions, assist with school and public groups, and act as a steward of the museum. Perfect for those who are friendly and enjoy working with people of all ages and backgrounds.
Do you like to work with your hands and teach others? Our Mars Robotics Laboratory is an immersive experience where you'll help guests operate mini rovers on rugged Martian terrain. You'll oversee rover operations, assign missions to skilled drivers, and rescue rovers that get stuck. Perfect for those who enjoy hands-on experiences, robotics, and smaller groups.
Science On a Sphere® (SOS) is one of our most desired attractions! This six-foot diameter global display system illustrates Earth System science to audiences of all ages. As a presenter, you'll bring this enticing sphere to life with presentations on topics including: Tour of the Solar System, Rocketry, Mars, Artemis Program, and more. Ideal for natural presenters or those wanting to gain public speaking skills.
In this "Maker Space" type lab, you'll help visitors with 3D print pens, making buttons, creating die cut projects, and more. You may also help educators during 3D printer workshops and learn how to use other tools. Perfect for those who like crafts, enjoy working with kids, and want to learn more about technological tools.
Do you want to learn how to fly a drone? We'll train you to fly and teach others! Our drones are contained in netting where visitors can fly in four separate courses. Good for those who like drones and aeronautics, enjoy teaching, and can troubleshoot on occasion. It's serious fun!
